Some of the highlights of HOOPS 3DF v18.0 are:
Interactive Rendering of Large Models: This release continues the pattern of significant performance gains through advanced algorithms which enable smooth interaction with large models. Particular effort has been put in to ensure that these capabilities are available with our DirectX driver.
Visualization Enhancements: Numerous enhancements have been put into our shader pipeline. We have introduced new bloom and depth-of-field shaders and also improved the existing shadow map and ambient occlusion capabilities. A preview of our new shader-based OpenGL driver is included with HOOPS18; developers can now register and use their own GLSL and HLSL shaders. The shader-based DirectX driver has undergone significant enhancements in HOOPS18 and is now the preferred 3D driver.
Broad Color Interpolation Enhancements: We added a new set of interfaces which provide developers with extensive control over the coloring, placement and visibility of contour lines. Developers will also now find it easier to use color maps of different sizes without needing to change results data.
Extended Point Cloud Capabilities: We've improved our handling of point cloud data to ensure even better rendering performance. HOOPS18 also includes a preview of our new out-of-core point cloud capabilities. These capabilities allow users to dynamically interact with models containing billions of points even on low-end 32-bit machines.
Third Party Integration Updates: As with all major HOOPS releases we have updated to the latest versions of all our third party integrations. This includes updates to the ACIS, Parasolid, RealDWG, DWF, SketchUp and DGNDirect libraries.
